I'm personally excited for this, though I know Roman will probably break his computer upon reading this confirmation.

Rob Zombie Officially Directing 'Halloween' Sequel
Monday, December 15, 2008

By: MrDisgusting

Rob Zombie is packing up and heading back to Haddonfield for H2, the sequel to his remake of John Carpenter's classic film from 1978. While other horror websites patronized us for reporting the story broke by Shock, it appears the egg is in their face as Zombie will return to both write and direct the sequel to HALLOWEEN for Dimension Films. Read on for the official news and full details on the deal. What do you guys think? Where should Zombie take the sequel?

Dimension Films and Rob Zombie are teaming for another chapter of "Halloween," and he's racing to scare up the pic for release in October.

Zombie will write and direct "H2," the sequel to his 2007 reinvention of the John Carpenter horror classic. Production will begin in March.

The new film picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.

Zombie said it won't resemble the original second installment, as the "House of 1000 Corpses" helmer continues to take the franchise in different directions.

Zombie took Carpenter's original and stamped it with an original storyline that treated Myers as a clinical psychopath. The film grossed $60 million domestically in 2007.

Zombie had told Dimension chief and TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein he wanted nothing to do with a sequel. But just like the franchise's villain, Zombie was compelled to come back.

"I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie said. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

Malek Akkad of Trancas Intl. Films will produce with Spectacle Entertainment's Andy Gould

Danielle Harris in Talks to Return in 'H2'
Monday, January 5, 2009

By: MrDisgusting

When Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN remake was announced, one of the biggest pieces of news was that Danielle Harris would be returning to Haddonfield as she'd end up starring (and taking her top off) as Annie Brackett, one of Laurie Strode's friends. Harris was best known in the horror community as little Jamie Lloyd - Michael Myers' niece - in both Dimension Films' HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS and HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS. We learned this evening that Harris is in final talks to join the cast of H2, or HALLOWEEN II if you will. She is the latest name circling the project alongside Scout Taylor-Compton, Malcolm McDowell (signed for three films), Daeg Faerch and Sheri Moon Zombie. Tyler Mane (Michael) is the only confirmed name thus far. What do you guys think Zombie will be doing with Harris? The film hits theaters August 28th, 2009.

I did not see the first one since I just cannot see Rob Zombie as a movie director...guess I will pass on this one (but this is not me saying the remake sucked. Just that I have no desire to watch)

I thought a lot of the second act had some great moments of "holy shit' suspense. Yes, it was rushed, but thats partly cuz the studio kept riding him to finish it. The Weinsteins are like the Cordays of the cinema.

i fully disagree. the entire second act was awful. they had one OMG run! moment and that was in the old house and whatnot.. but that was far from redeeming the 2nd act.

as for reasons i honestly couldnt care less. reasons dont change the outcome, but it doesnt change the absolute awfulness of it.

Guess thats why opinions are opinions.

The movie was fantastic for what it was, IMO, and apparently others did too since it broke records at the box office.

I'll be first in line to see this one.

ehhh, i seen it in theaters too. doesnt mean i found it fantastic.

plenty of movies do well, doesnt mean they are great.

as long as this movie is as good as the first half of the last one ill be happy.

but if its as awfula s the second half? ehhh.

house of 1000 is still fantastic tho.

I just didn't dig it at all. I didn't like the first half, because it made it seem like, to me, that he became a psychotic mass murderer because he couldn't go trick or treating.

The second half was just a complete rehash of the original movie. There were people in the theater calling out what was coming up next, and damn if they weren't right. Came off like the remake of "Psycho" where Gus Van Zant refilmed the movie scene for scene and word for word. H1 wasn't that bad, but it just wasn't good to me.

But, we'll see. Although this is coming off like H5, which was rushed out of the gate so it could be ready in a year, and ended up competing with H4. And it showed on the screen, because what could have been a great movie seemed so slapped together. Why Dimension doesn't take a extra 6 months is beyond me, but, that's their choice.

I wait and see. :)

I hated the RZ original version and not looking forward to seeing this version but being that I love the Halloween franchise I will watch it to form an opinion.

Dear Lord.

This is from a recent interview with Scott Thompson, who plays Laurie. I had to put this Paragraph in this thread:

Strode isn't the only one with a new look. Big bro Michael Myers (returning actor Tyler Mane) spends most of his time sans the jumpsuit and mask and sports a pretty impressive beard. "It's quite different. They had filmed with Tyler before me and I had heard things about a jacket and the mask. I hadn't necessarily seen it until two weeks into shooting. It was quite shocking, I think it's scarier than his look in the first one. It freaks me out a lot more than the suit and the mask. It's him trying to hide himself and it's a different emotion I think."

I am thinking about renting the first one just to see Zombie's spin on this series (not seen it. I watched the John Carpenter version last night).

But I just rented Vicky Cristina Barcelona and turned it off about an hour into the movie...it nearly put me to sleep. So I may go 2 for 2 in poor movie rentals

I must say that it looks good. Loving Michael in the hoodie and mask. Looks more maniacal.
