There is a new HBIC of The Hills. Lauren is being recasted... err replaced, by her former enemy Kristen.

Rumors have been circulating for weeks that former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari was in talks to replace Lauren Conrad on The Hills. Now, EW can exclusively confirm that Cavallari will indeed be starring in MTV's reality series. The 22-year old's first appearance will be the May 31st season finale (she catches the bouquet at Heidi and Spencer’s wedding, natch) and she'll appear in 10 episodes this fall. Cavallari, now a budding actress, is fully prepared to stir things up. “It’s a TV show,” she explains. “I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! And drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in, because I know what works.” Cavallari had plenty more to reveal in her exclusive interview with EW.

On why she’s coming back to reality TV:
“The goal for me is to get my fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn’t have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help.”

On rumors that producers are plotting a romance between her and Justin Bobby (which The Hills producers deny):
“I have no idea! [laughs] I don’t think MTV would be like, ‘Oh you’re dating him now. This is your boyfriend.' But they might try and set up situations. I’m totally cool with that. Again, it’s a TV show and they need to make it entertaining.”

On how her version of The Hills will differ from Lauren’s:
“I’m a completely different person than Lauren. I have a lot more energy. I’m more outgoing. I’m a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she’s not dating on the show. I’m very open to dating and finding a guy.”

On introducing Heidi and Spencer:
“It’s so funny. I guess it was 4 years ago. I was dating Brody [Jenner] and Spencer was Brody’s best friend. I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach. Heidi was like, ‘Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.’ And Brody and I were kinda like, ‘Well, maybe Spencer?’ We’ll see what happens.’ So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they’re married.”

For more from Cavallari, including her reunion with Laguna frenemy Lauren and her relationship with the rest of the cast, and to hear how producers plan to "put a new spin" on The Hills next fall, pick up the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly hitting stands this Friday.

I know at least Kristin is admitting that it is fake. I think that there were parts of Laguna Beach that were real obviously, the kids in the first season really did go to the college (I am talking about Morgan, Christina, Trey, Dieter) and MTV had no control over that. Everything else was staged. As it is now but even more so. I read once that they were planning a Heidi and Holly (her sister) shot and they were saying how long it had beensince they had seen each other. Well, they were photographed coming out of the same building and followed down the block where the cameras were.

This will be a perfect vehicle to have Kristin back into the MTV world. I wonder what will become of Lo? And if any of Kristin's Laguna Beach friends will be on.

Laguna was much more real than its given credit for, thankx to 99% of the hills being faked.

A lot of the drama on laguna was real. Granted the gatherings and settings were staged, and the kids knew what the show was looking for, but its not so much faked as enchanced.

The hills is pretty much written and acted out.

I'm glad Kristin's coming on The Hills. And I think it's hilarious that she's the only cast member that isn't afraid to admit that MTV sets things up. Lauren, Audrina, Whitney, Heidi, Lo, Brody, etc., they all try to make it seem like what's on screen is their real lives and they would be living this way if there weren't cameras around. That's not true. None of the people would be where they are if it weren't for MTV. Lauren would still be in Laguna Beach because she wouldn't have met all of the fashion connections she did thanks to MTV. The same goes for everyone else on the cast.

The Hills is not real. Plain and simple. Aside from MTV paying for Lauren's house and setting her up with Teen Vogue, I believe that the first two seasons of The Hills were the most real out of all of them. Once Lauren and Heidi stopped being friends, and from Season 3 up to now, it has been so set up and fake. MTV clearly sets everything up and stages these meetings and confrontations. That one guy that Lauren met at a modeling casting and she went on a date with him in Season 3, I believe, even said that MTV set up the date and suggested that they get together even though neither were interested in the other. And I don't believe for one minute that Audrina and Brody hooked up in Hawaii.

As for Laguna Beach and Newport Harbor, those two shows were a lot more real than The Hills. Those kids were still living at home. It wasn't like MTV was getting them into clubs or buying apartments for them, etc. All of the stuff happened in Laguna Beach. The extravagent lifestyle that was captured was there before MTV cameras came into town. The kids in those towns are rich and privaledged. That's nothing MTV changed. The only thing I would say MTV had a hand in was setting up events like the bonfires and house parties. And I'm sure they pushed the cast members to talk shit on other cast members and also confront them. That's because they needed to make a television show and the stuff was already there given they were filming high school teenagers. Life is always drama in high school. MTV didn't have to set up any drama. It was already there. All MTV had to do was push the cast members to talk more about it.

The Hills is full of grown ass people. There's no way they have this much drama in their lives. It's so fake.
My current soap ratings
1. The Young and the Restless
2. One Life to Live
3. Days of our Lives
4. The Bold and the Beautiful
5. All My Children
6. General Hospital

I hate being the unpopular opinion. :(

I'll miss LC and I did like her. From what I've seen so far of Kristin, I don't like. . .but I mean, I guess I have to watch longer.

^LOL cool!

I think it showed symbolism in the last epi how she and Kristen were both wearing blue and LC left while Kristen stuck around. Goes to show that LC is officially out and Kristen has now taken over her role as head on the show.

Lauren being replaced by Kristin is ridiculous. The whole premise of the show was about LC starting new when she finished high school. Now, Audrina's getting her own show. Whitney has her own show. I'd love Lo to have her own show. But the point is...everyone's leaving. I'm sure everyone that's somewhat associated (on-screen) with The Hills show is dragging their feet into the next season.

IMHO, they should have just ended it at the wedding, like originally planned.

But Lauren stopped bringing the drama at the end of season 2, IMHO. After that she just was a reaction to events.

Also, Whitney had her own show, it failed, and shes gone.

Audrina is not getting her own show. Well shes trying, but it aint at MTV.

And i highly doubt anyone on this cast is dragging there feet to get paid as much as they do.

But i do agree replacing Lauren on her own show is redic, lol. Just goes to show you how fake this show has been from the beginning.

Audrina's new show is set in stone.

As far as dragging feet, I'm sure the pay is good, but I'm also sure that everyone (minus Speidi) is tired of their every movement being filmed all the time. They all thought this was the last season, but instead, MTV just replaced the title character, who was integral to the premise of the show.

Dont be so sure about Audrinas show.... I am not saying it wont happen, but i wouldnt say its set in stone. I would say a lot of her shows future, esp after The City pretty much fails, hangs on how The Hills does next season.

I dont think they mind. Its not like every move they make is filmed. They p0retty much show up and act like a over the top version of themselves. Obviously none of them mind as not only did they want to come back, more than one tried to become the star of the show knowing Lauren was leaving.

Lauren was an intergal part to the premise of the show yes, but after season 2... esp after season 3, she became pointless. She was done then and should have left.

I do think the show should have ended tho, dont get me wrong, but i sure as hell cant wait to see the DRAMA Kristen will bring. I love love love how she pretty much admits to how fake this shit is and knows what MTV wants from her.

"You messed with the wrong girl!" ...I so cant wait to see her take on Audrina, Stephanie, and the gang.

Actually, Audrina is getting her own show according to E! And they're pretty much all news, little gossip. If it wasn't sset in stone, they would say it wasn't.

And another thing. The stars are hindered from doing anything due to the contracts they signed with MTV. They can't go anywhere; MTV has them by the balls.

This whole "Lauren was useless after season 2" thing you keep saying is bullsh*t. Is there a rulebook for reality TV? Furthermore, if there is, does it say that the star of a show, the reason the show exists, should leave said show if he/she stops bringing drama? No, I don't think so.

I think LC has brought plenty of drama. The Hills is more widely known for the LC/Heidi rift, which has pretty much consumed seasons two through five.

Anyone associated with the show admits to The Hills being fake. The only ones that haven't admitted to it, knowingly or unknowingly, are LC and Audrina.

I don't mean to sound harsh. Sorry if I did.

I don't think LC is really allowed to say it's fake. I mean it is HER show. . .shouldn't she sell it? And why would she tell everyone it's fake, like what's the purpose?
