Chelsea Brady's regular table at the Brady Pub hasn't even been bussed yet, and already Rachel Melvin has been tapped for a high-profile new gig. The two-time Daytime Emmy nominee for "Days of our Lives" has been cast on the third season of "Heroes."

Rachel will play "Annie," a college roommate of Hayden Panettiere's Claire. (Fans will note that Claire is the indestructible cheerleader of the "Heroes" bunch, which automatically gives her a leg up on the inevitable roomie vs. roomie wars of attrition that make the freshman-year experience so memorable.)

And according to The Hollywood Reporter, Annie "will share sleeping quarters (and maybe more) with Claire." "Maybe more"! That probably isn't code for "an iPod charger."

It was really great to see Rachel on my screen&in the credits again. The irony certaintly isnt lost on me though. She survives 4 years on a SOAP OPERA without being killed off, and in a primetime show she's dead in the first episode. <_<

ps.Can't wait for her lifetime series!
